major improvements being done

Dear User as you will have seen the artificial pitch has been suffering over the last few months and has been holding more and more water. This is due to a build-up of soil and silt being carried off the school fields in heavy rain and ending up on the artificial pitch. This has led to the blocking of the drainage holes within the artificial carpet. We have reached a point this week where we have had to close the pitch on several occasions due to health and safety and as a School and Trust we have decided we need to act now.
Therefore we have had various contractors to site this week who have inspected the pitch and we have agreed that a full rejuvenation of the pitch is needed. This will see upto 60 tons of dirty contaminated sand removed from the pitch and replaced with 40 tons of new sand. The work will return the carpet to its ideal playing standard of 3mm of exposed fibre sat on top of the sand. The second stage of work which will be carried out at the same time is to install a drainage ditch around the outside of the fence to prevent rainwater from the field running onto the surface. Finally immediately following this work we will undertake a full remark of the pitch as the rejuvenation will break up the current lines.
This work is urgent and with winter approaching it is vital that we undertake this work immediately.
Therefore having appointed a contractor this afternoon we will be closing the pitch as from Wednesday 15th November for a seven day period to allow for the rejuvenation and drainage work. We have booked in for the full line remark for Wednesday 22nd November but this of course is weather dependant so have the Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th as back up dates to complete the work.

I appreciate the inconvenience of the closure period but in order to protect the pitch and sustain it going forward it is necessary for this work to proceed. We have been extremely fortunate to be able to tie up the contractors at such short notice to carry out this work.
