Ladies 1st team suffer 2-1 loss away to local rivals Somerset Gryphons

A windy away match at Gryphons left a lot to be desired. A hungry Gryphons second team were looking at relegation but after a 2 goal lead in the first half, we just couldn't claw it back.

North started with a positive push and had some action in the d, but with a man down after a ball to the head in the first 10 minutes heads went down and we couldn't convert d action into goal action. Several defensive short corners were cleared strongly, particularly Port and Graham acting fast. Unfortunately their strength wasn't enough and Gryphons powered it at the backboard. Some lovely quick ball play down the right wing meant Tedford was able to keep possession of the ball and after some quick thinking on the penalty spot, a reverse banger flew past Gryphons keeper and score was 2-1 going into half time.

Second half came and several goal scoring opportunities by Harrold and Tedford were denied. Strong clearance by Gryphons put pressure on our defence resulting in a short corner, which got past our keeper but was disallowed for being above the backboard.

With 4 matches left of the season, overall some positive action from the north ladies 1s with plenty of opportunities in the D which just couldn't be converted.

After this weekends game being cancelled due to snow the ladies are back in action next Saturday against Firebrands!
