Finished 2nd in the league.

The Summer League is now over and the Men's team have been successful. Having been promoted last season as champions with one draw against Chippenham being the only blemish.

This season the team was mainly based around the Men's 2s team with Rob O'Neill the captain of both. They were bolstered though with some youth from the 3s to improve their understanding of gameplay, especially when playing with a couple of the 1s players who were able to assist and turn on the style.

The promotion looked like it was going to a stern task as we started the season with a win away at Shepton Mallett, but then a loss to Chippenham and a draw to Yate made it look like the season would give us a chance to work hard and learn alot about the team. It did give us a chance to look at how the team was going to play, but in a different way when we had a run of 5 straight wins showed that we were learning well how to play together and the changes that were made from having a large squad didn't impact the style of play. A draw in the last game being a slight deflation, causing us to finish second in the league, just behind Keynsham who we had beaten in a fiesty affair in the rain at Gordano. The look at the league table shows that we clearly enjoyed our trips away, winning all four games on the road, but only two out of five at home.

The team had two ever presents - Captain Rob and Tim Graham playing all nine along with centre forward Harry Croker playing 8.

The top scorers were Lewis Francuz with 10 and Harry Croker with 7, hopefully they can keep that form up as they head into preseason and the winter League.

A special mention goes out from Captain Rob to the young players within the team, Callum Black already regular in the 2s despite his age will be looking for opportunities in the first team for the new season and showed his skills frequently throughout the season. Jack Colling and Dan Dudley who have been playing 3s for the last season showed that they are able to transition to the pace of play with the summer league and Dan Kaye was able to play having met the age requirement at the start of the summer league and got his first taste of senior hockey, learning all the time ready for a new season to break into the 3s.

Preseason training is now underway with Sunday sessions from 11-12 and Tuesday sessions from 7:30 - 9 open to all the players and new members alike on the astro at Gordano School.
