Great progress made

The progress has been truly remarkable
- Jon Venn

A fantastic positive season for the U12s. The progress has been truly remarkable. The numbers coming to training have been consistent and their basic skill level has improved. The two hours training session on a Sunday morning has allowed the under 12s to have half a pitch to train on. We have used this to develop game play in all aspects of the game: short corner routines, long corner and free hits. This has really benefitted the children at the festivals.

Festivals
We were able to attend 3 festivals this season. Two before Christmas and one after Christmas. The festivals comprise of four games of seven a side hockey. The teams are mixed but three girls must be on the pitch at all times.
This season we have managed to give more children the opportunity to play in these festivals which they have all really enjoyed. Our hard work on game play on Sunday mornings has really benefited the children at these festivals. In previous years at the festivals we have found it difficult to retain possession of the ball and unable create scoring opportunities in open play. This season that all changed, some great hockey was played and good team goals were scored. This culminated in the last festival where we achieved our best results. We played 4, won 2 , drew 1 and lost 1. This was a fantastic achievement and a great platform to work on for next season.

Next Season
The aim for next season will be to have more friendly matches to give more children the opportunity to play.
The training will involve getting the basics right and lots of game play to help them when they take the next step up into 11 a side Badgers hockey.
Finally, I would like to thank the Under 12 coaching staff for all the time and hard work they have put in this season and the parents for all the support they have given us.
