Starting with a 2-1 win away at South Glos

NSHC 3rds started their season off with an away friendly against South Gloucestershire, we started the first half with good positive hockey utilising the new skills learnt from the last few practice sessions well. The defensive trio of James,DC and Fraser were really strong and controlled the game well from the back, James showed great strength in the back showing the opposition he was no push over. We saw the return of Steve who opened his season with the first goal of the match with a great flick past the keeper. The second half saw South Glos level the playing field by squeezing one past the keepers glove. There was good team hockey from NSHC which allowed us to have numerous attacks down through the wings and centre field. Tim, Dan K and Charlie had a great game on the wings utilising their pace and skills to undo their opponents opening up the mid field players Jack, Lewis and Ben to get into some great attacking positions, Ben had a great strike at goal from the top of the D late in the second half only to be poached by Shaun to clinch the winning goal. Andy and Bill controlled the mid field with precision as usual. An all round good performance from the 3's to start their season off, looking forward to the next friendly and the season ahead.
