North Somerset Ladies 1st XI continued their pre-season preparation with a competitive friendly against local rivals Avonmouth. North opened the scoring early with a cracking goal through Michelle Harrold from central midfield.
North continued to press down the left hand side and this resulted in a second goal coming via winger Laura Sandford. Sandford continued her good early season form with her second, which was the result of a rebounded short corner. The half ended with North 3 goals to the good with no reply from Avonmouth.
Avonmouth came out fighting in the second half, scoring 2 early goals in the first 10 minutes. North recomposed and rallied and managed to bag a 4th goal through Emma Tilley, following some good play from midfielders Emily Saunders and Emma Smith. Despite Avonmouth getting a 3rd, North Somerset completed a 5-3 victory with 5 minutes remaining. Emma Tilley slotted her second home from the penalty spot. This was a competitive and well fought game from both teams.
The league programme starts next week so bring on Cheddar at home next week.
