Hat trick for Becky

North Somerset Ladies 1st team played had against Firebrands 4th on Saturday and ran out 5-0 winners after a hard fought game.
In the early exchanges both teams defences were dominating and play was even, with neither team establishing a good attacking platform. Gradually the North Somerset pressing game created more and more pressure on Firebrands and North benefited from more territorial possession.
The first goal came after an interchange of passes found Lara Ford-Urch at the top of the dee and she rifled a superb shot into the top of the net. North were now starting to play more fluidly and established their passing game, moving the ball better around the pitch. The second goal came when Becky Ford-Urch made a good run into the D from the left wing and spotting the goalie moving off her line she cleverly slipped the ball post the keeper on the inside post. A third goal followed in the first half when more good into play and interpassing resulted in Michelle Harrold being able to convert a cross into a successful first time shot at goal.
In the second half Firebrands continued to contest hard, and did create some danger from runs down their left wing but the North Somerset defence was able to contain the threats. North were also continually probing the Firebrands defence, Charlotte Millington started to make more of her pacy runs down the right wing and Becky Ford-Urch was controlling the midfield. Although the Firebrands defence were doing quite a good job marking North’s dangerous forwards, this did create opportunities for the midfield to attack open channels.
Becky Ford-Urch capped an impressive display by scoring two more goals from these midfield attacks in the second half and completing a well earned hat-trick.
