North Somerset Ladies 1s travelled away this Saturday to a sunny Keynsham. With only 2 games left of the season, this was another must win to keep their place secured at the top end of the table. The first half saw the top scorer for the girl's team Michelle Harrold put the first goal in via a lovely run from right mid-fielder Charlotte Millington. Harrold had a second goal slip past the Keynsham defence quickly after and North were on a run with goals from Lara Ford and another from Harrold to finish the first half. However, Kenysham had brought their fighting spirit and in the first part of the second half ramped up the pressure on Norths defence. North struggled to get the ball out of their half but after a tough 15 minutes, the solid defence of Cadie Dunn, Merryn Chambers and Rachel helped deny them any reward. Soon North found their form again and a beautiful and well-deserved penalty flick from Becky Urch sailed past the goalie and lodged into the corner bar for another goal. Helen Fraser Graham was determined to get on the scoreboard this game and managed to sweep past the 6th goal into the Keynsham net. More goals followed from Harrold, another lovely pass from Ford see’s Helen slip past another goal from a short corner and Harrold finishes the North goal-scoring extravaganza. Keynsham get a final cheeky last score, which was well earned in the closing minutes. North complete their penultimate game 9-1, closing this season with an enormous goal difference and the final game at home to Shepton Mallet next Saturday.
