Under 12s Avon Junior Hockey Festival
Loss 0-1 v Old Bristolians
North Somerset we’re unlucky to lose the first match. We had the majority of the possession and plenty of attacking play. Old Bristolians only had a couple of shots on goal and one sneaked in.
Draw 2-2 v Westbury B
The match against Westbury was fairly even. Westbury scored first, but goals from Barney and Oscar put North Somerset ahead. A penalty corner in the final moments gave Westbury the goal to level the game. The team blamed the coach for jinxing the game!
Win 6-0 v Chippenham B
Next North Somerset raised their game against Chippenham B with a totally dominant performance. George scored a hat trick on his festival debut and further goals from Oscar, Barney and Charlie, sent the crowd wild!
Win 4-0 v Chippenham A
North Somerset did not let up when they played Chippenham A. The play of the festival saw Oscar carry the ball to the baseline and cross to Barney, who slapped the ball above the backboard into the bulging net. Two more goals from Barney and a much anticipated goal from Lexie as she stormed forward from centre back, to give the team another convincing win.
Although being bored in the final two matches, Toby made some excellent saves throughout the festival. Olivia and Lexie were solid in defence, making many goal saving tackles. Charlie played solidly in several positions, with a cooly taken goal to top it off. Oscar was back to his turbo charged best. Barney held the team together in central midfield and put a lot of effort into his goal celebrations. Flo and Katie put in plenty of energy on the pitch and had great games. George was brilliant and so happy with his hat-trick.
A fantastic display from the team, who played excellently. Great teamwork, lots of passing, playing it out wide and solid tackling. The parents are now taking out bank loans to pay the promised goal bonuses! Looking forward to more entertaining displays in the future.
