Under 12s Avon Junior Hockey Festival
It was another good performance from the under 12’s. The results don’t necessarily reflect the good hockey the team played. With Toby unavailable the team borrowed a goalkeeper from Chippenham.
Win 5-0 v Bristol & West
North Somerset dominated the game and were clear winners. Barney got on the score sheet early, to calm the nerves of the supporters. Barney’s second saw him ignore the coaches shouts of “Pass” as he ran the base line, instead it was a cheeky reverse flick into the goal. Mia dominated the midfield and topped it off with two well taken goals. Then George finished it off with a good finish from a penalty corner.
Loss 0-2 v Old Bristolians
North Somerset didn’t really show what they could do during this game and were pretty disorganised against a team who had one very good player who dominated the play.
A few spirited words from the coach after this game.
Loss 3-5 v City of Bath B
A much better performance during this game and North Somerset had the majority of the play and attacking opportunities. Barney scored 2 and Olivia popped up with a goal. At 3-4 down North Somerset pushed for a equaliser, but Old Bristolians intercepted the ball and scored in the final seconds. A game we should have won, but it just didn’t go our way.
Loss 0-1 v Redland
Probably the best team performance of the festival. Loads of attacking play and there would have been plenty of goal to celebrate, but Redland’s keeper was brilliant. Redland didn’t have many shots on our goal and scored from a good short corner routine. Another game where the score did not reflect the game being watched from the sidelines.
A happy coach after the festival, the performances were good and there are plenty more wins and goals to come for North Somerset. The penalty corner routines run through in training paid off and they played out well during the festival.
Olivia and Lexie were great in defence again and North Somerset would have let in plenty more goals if it wasn’t for them.
Katie played well and was happy to play wherever the coach put her, she’s getting closer to scoring that elusive goal.
Jago and George shared duties upfront and out wide. They worked their socks off and put on a good display.
Millie arranged her birthday celebrations around the festival and she didn’t disappoint with tireless running up and down the left.
Mia had a superb debut for North Somerset and commanded the centre of midfield. With two debut goals, we look forward to her scoring many more.
Barney played well and got four goals this time out. His dad is feeling skint again, after Barney’s goal bonus demands.
Thanks to everyone who helps with the under 12s. There’s lots to look forward to.
